About Me
In my hometown of Reno, Nevada, from a young age I was lucky to be a part of a nurturing and thriving theatre community. I grew up in a trunk, as it were, performing in as many shows as I could get into! Here's me as Baby June in the musical "Gypsy" in 1983.
My career brought me to St. Louis, where I fell in love with my husband... and the St. Louis Cardinals. Go Cards!
Hi there!
I'm Lee Anne Mathews. Scroll down to learn a bit about who I am and what brings me joy.
Music has always been a huge part of my life. My husband and I are part of a Honky Tonk band called The Tumbleweed Union. He plays the drums, and I sing and play ukulele and harmonica. (If the crowd is lucky, I might play the cowbell...)
As a performer, I've had the opportunity to visit and work in places all over the world. Some highlights include singing on a cruise ship in Europe, doing Shakespeare under the midnight sun in Alaska, and joining the Disney legacy in several shows at both Tokyo Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Here I am as a part of the venerable a cappella group, the Voices of Liberty, at Epcot Center.
After many years together, Matt and I decided to make it official in 2019. We threw an outdoor festival with food trucks and live music. In the midst of it all, my dear friend Emily officiated our wedding.
I learned a lot about the world, the theatre and myself when I started teaching. I came from a long family legacy of teachers, and I am proud to have taken my place among them.
I love the outdoors. I grew up in the mountains and have have always felt an affinity for animals, trees, and all things nature. I believe in being kind to the environment and all life. Matt and I love our groovy camper van that takes us on many fun adventures!
As a lifelong performer, paying attention to my fitness has always been a priority. As I get older (and hopefully wiser) I am understanding that finding balance between mind, body, and spirit is the key to overall wellness. I have striven in recent years to learn more about health, mindfulness, positive psychology, and the quest for inner peace. As I walk this path, I encourage others to do the same, and I find great fulfilment through helping others feel good about themselves. Here I am with my sister Carol, practicing what I preach at Lake Tahoe!
